CGA Heritage Lab | Visualization | 12.5 x 10 x 3 mt
Chen Wu-Wei
Course Description
Dr. Chen integrates the concepts of 3D visualization, interactive info-motion design and digital sculpting into digital heritage contents development. Dr. Chen also hosts digital heritage forums at SIGGRAPH Asia (Macau, Bangkok, Daegu) and invites experts of interdisciplinary areas (museum contents, architecture, urban planning, curation and aesthetics) for sharing.
The introductory segment of this module serves as the foundational building block for understanding classic motion design tools essential in the context of Maya for motion design. These tools encompass modeling, UV mapping, animation, lighting, and fundamental rendering engines.
Throughout the course of this module, students will embark on a comprehensive journey to gain a deeper grasp of the conceptual, technical, and aesthetic dimensions associated with high-definition (HD) digital video planning, production, and post-production. The projects undertaken will immerse students in specific aspects of DSLR cinematography, color grading, typography, composition, and more. Furthermore, students will explore how to strategically harness design elements to effectively convey meaning within time-based visual communication environments.

DESIGN CONCEPT
"Food is essential substance for us, but how much do we know about the ingredients? Food is modified so much nowadays for massive production, but does modifying food make them better or healthier? The project aims to create a combination of objects and type, in a simple and playful fashion, ironically bringing forth the awareness of the food we consume everyday." - quote from Jerry Chen
